HD Processing Forum held a conference, titled "HD Driving PC & Digital Media: Global Market & Technology Trend" at the Taiwan International Conference Center in Taipei, Taiwan on Wednesday, March 19, 2008.
This conference is the second event of the Forum, following the first one held in Tokyo in December last year. (related article: The first conference held by HD Processing FORUM: "HD Trend, Driving Digital Media and PC Market, and its Issues")
Mr. Ichiro Takano, President and CEO at TechnoAssociates, Inc., a consulting firm in Tokyo and in charge of the Forum operations, announced that the Forum was launched with initial members including Corel Taiwan, CyberLink, Leadtek Research, and Toshiba.
Regarding the contents of the conference, the conference covered the latest HD trends in the market as well as in the technology, inviting practicing professionals from the relevant industry sectors including PC (both software and hardware) and digital media.
As Taiwan today is one of the most powerful centers for development of PCs and digital consumer electronics devices, approximately 150 participants participated in this conference event. (Figure 1)
The conference participants took part in the discussion actively and exchanged information each other about the HD processing market trends and technologies. (Figure 2)
Mr. Yoshio Masubuchi, Director at Advanced SoC Development Center of Toshiba Semiconductor Company, said, during the panel discussion, “HD Processing Forum is key to the success of bringing up an ecosystem in our industry and educating the end users. Toshiba has various multimedia SoC products. From SoC supplier perspectives, it is very important to establish such an ecosystem to support our SoC with application, software and hardware developing partners, and contents providers.” (Figure 3)
Toshiba Semiconductor Company, a HD Processing Forum member, is planning to hold SpursEngine developer conferences starting from the second quarter this year to further promote SpursEngine to 3rd party software developers and PC or PC peripheral hardware and consumer electronics manufacturers.
